Susan
Ugstad returned to her home state of Minnesota in 2001 from New Hampshire
where she and her husband lived for 21 years after their graduation from the
U of M-Duluth. Su’s professional experiences include areas of Procurement
and Materials Management, Production Scheduling and Planning, Documentation, Customer Service, and most recently the Real Estate industry. Juggling
the challenges of a full time job, raising two children and owning/managing
two rental properties while in New England, Su found time to tap her
creative and artistic talents in small ways such as elaborate themed
birthday parties for her children, an annual Halloween Haunted House for
area children, and an original Murder Mystery game created for an adult
audience. Su discovered her niche’ for transforming nondescript objects
into real-life structures and effects, and the thrill of creating a
theatrical pretense to the visual/audio work.
Su and
her husband Bob have owned and operated Balsam Bay Resort on Big Sand
Lake in Remer, Minnesota since 2002. With her children
grown and the flexibility of a seasonal business, Su is striving to fulfill
her desire to give something back to the community. She is a Board
member of The Congress of Minnesota Resorts organization, an active member
of the Remer Chamber of Commerce, treasurer on the Remer Township
Board, and is involved in other community groups dedicated to Remer’s
economic viability and sustainability. Su views her recent collaborations
with artist/playwright Therese Kunz, including the formulation of the
Ever Lovin’ Sisters Theatre Company as new, exciting venues in which
to provide community enrichment and opportunity.
